The March Mini-Refresh Checklist

Small updates, big impact. Tick these off to shake off the winter blues and get your home spring market ready.

Phase 1: The "Visual Lighten-Up" (Interior)

  • The "Heavy to Light" Swap: Store wool blankets, faux fur throws, and velvet pillows. Replace them with linen, cotton, or light knit textures in brighter tones (sage, cream, or soft terracotta).

  • Declutter the "Drop Zone": Clear out the mudroom or entryway. Put away heavy snow boots, salt canisters, and winter parkas to make room for light rain jackets and umbrellas.

  • Dust the High Points: Winter heaters circulate a lot of dust. Hit the ceiling fans, light fixtures, and the tops of window frames.

  • The Kitchen Reset: Clear the counters of heavy appliances you aren't using daily. Add a bowl of citrus or a fresh plant to bring in some "greenery" while the outdoors is still gray.

Phase 2: The "Deep Clarity" (Windows & Air)

  • Glass & Sills: Clean windows inside and out. Don't forget to vacuum the window tracks. Utah dust loves to settle there over the winter.

  • Screen Check: Inspect window screens for tears caused by winter wind or snow weight. Repair or replace them now before the bugs wake up.

  • Filter Refresh: Swap out your HVAC filter. After a full season of the furnace running, your air quality (and your energy bill) will thank you.

  • Let the Air In: On the next 50 degree day, crack the windows for 20 minutes to flush out the stale "winter air."

Phase 3: The "Curb Appeal" (Exterior)

  • The Power Wash: Blast away the salt and grime from your driveway, front porch, and back patio.

  • Gutter Check: Ensure gutters are clear of debris so the spring runoff flows away from your foundation, not into it.

  • The Walkabout: Walk your property line. Look for any fence slats that warped or shingles that may have shifted during those heavy winter storms.

  • Prep the Patio: Pull your outdoor furniture out of storage, wipe it down, and check for any rust or wood rot that needs a quick touch-up.

Broker’s Note: If you are planning to sell this year, the "Window & Power Wash" combo is the highest ROI task you can do this month. It makes the home look meticulously maintained for a very low cost.
